Ramen Break, the last single from the upcoming Tinyhawk & Bizzarro album flirts with the world’s most sampled drum beat

Tinyhawk & Bizzarro release their long-awaited second album Neko-A-Sekai on October 3rd. The third and final single from the album is called Ramen Break and it was released today, August 15th.

The upcoming single is one of Jenni Kinnunen’s earliest compositions. She has this to say about its creation process:

- The song came into being over ten years ago during a very strange and mystical Turku-Stockholm-Tampere adventure. We were driving to Tampere, and I started to hear a clear structure of a song. There was a guitar at the place where we were staying, and I rushed to write the tune down on a staff I scawled on a grid paper. And now, years later, when we were arranging the song, I got this idea of ”playing the Amen Break of your own life”. Our producer Tuukka Tervo hauled the structure over one more time, and thus the song was ready to be played. Our guitarist Markus Väisänen suggested adding the letter R in front, connecting it to all things Japanese, which is our trademark, and also to the platform games we remember from our childhood.

The drummer Jaakko Pöyhönen has this to say about Ramen Break single:

- This firework of a tune was one of the easiest to knock into shape! Its name and mood toy with the world’s most sampled drum beat, which is from the song Amen Brother by The Winstons. This tune is very much written solely by Jenni, all the way to the drums. And what a joy this was to make! The tune has all kinds of surprises in addition to the main theme and its mood. And when played live, it is already living its own life.

Tinyhawk & Bizzarro's new single is dedicated to friendship and doing things together

Guitar group Tinyhawk & Bizzarro release the second single from their album Neko-A-Sakai, which is coming out in September 2025. The single Donichi was relased today, May 23rd.

”Donichi is japanese for weekend, and it symbolizes time spent together. The song is a love letter to playing together in a band.”, says Jenni Kinnunen, the band’s guitarist and composer. ”The song once again conjures up the streets and lights of Japan, but as opposed to the previous single, this time the mood is very light and warm.”

New single Tokyo No Go is out now! Watch new music video!

Tinyhawk & Bizzarro’s career took wing quickly after the release of their debut album in late 2023. The album Nekorok was widely praised by the music media, and at the Finnish Indie Awards they won the Newcomer of the Year award. This amazing journey was capped off by unique and quirky Nekorok winning the Teosto Prize, one of the most significant Nordic music prizes.

After a busy festival summer and an autumn tour of concert halls it is time for new material. Tinyhawk & Bizzarro are currently finishing their second album Neko-A-Sekai, which will be released in autumn 2025. The album’s first single is called Tokyo No Go, and it was released today. A music video directed by Jukka Ollikainen was released also today. While the first album leaned heavily towards Japan, Tokyo No Go finds the band moving even further onto Japanese soil, even though they don’t quite reach their destination.

The single features alternative musician Proto-Torvinen on vocals.

”When the composition and its mood started to take shape, I could see Tokyo’s neon lights and blue-hued nighttime scenes in my mind. And in the middle of all that I could hear Proto-Torvinen’s voice”, says Jenni Kinnunen, the band’s guitarist and composer. ”Proto-Torvinen’s vocal harmonies build a statue of sound in the middle of nighttime Tokyo.”

Humu Records releases the album Neko-A-Sekai in September 2025 on vinyl, CD and digital.
